Sissie Chang
is an American lens-based artist from Orange County, California. Her lyrical documentary portraits hover over the unspoken expectations of women in the family unit and the unflinching, ensnaring quality of familial obligation.
Her work has been exhibited in solo shows internationally in institutions such as the Nizhny Tagil Municipal Museum of Fine Arts and the Space Place Gallery (Ural, Russia). As well, her artwork has featured in publications such as Burn Magazine. She is a Critical Mass 2023 Top 200 Finalist and a finalist for the 2021 Burn Magazine Emerging Photographer Fund.
Don't Throw Away Your Daughters, her first monograph, was released in 2020.
